    1. Revival of the Silk Route: Problems and Prospects for India’s Trade with Central Asia, sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Initially it was awarded for two year later extended by one year, ending in the year 2008. My project deals with historical aspects of the Silk Route and provides a perspective on how and why it has come to attract attention in recent years.  It also deals with the importance of the Silk Route for India.   It also deals with India’s relations with the Central Asian states and the prospect for cooperation for energy security and trade interaction.

    2. Grand Trunk Road: Continuity and Changes, the aim of my work is to relive the experiences of the old trade route. What benefits ‘India and Pakistan can get from a better understanding of this trade route. A partial grant, FTG (Foreign Travel Grant) given by ICHR (Indian Council of Historical Research), an autonomous body of Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India which enabled me to traveled along the G.T. Road in Pakistan in 2007. I don’t have a deadline for this project but I am planning to bring my findings as a book in 2009.
